 Levels of the Strategic Plan

Strategic Planning, in its simplest form, includes the vertical (up and down the hierarchy of organizational chart) and horizontal (across all determined reporting levels) alignment of the institutional mission statement with the influences, both internal and external (see Strategic Planning Overview), and the governing priorities with the administrative/operational goals and student learning outcomes of the institution.

Regardless of whether tracking progress to an administrative/operational goal or student learning outcomes, an appropriately aligned assessment plan for measuring the progress of actions/initiatives to a pre-determined target/benchmark is required.

Strategic Planning and the resulting continuous IE processes at the operational level encompass the Administrative/Operational Goals and Student Learning Outcomes.

Regardless of whether the unit is tracking an administrative/operational goal or student learning outcomes, the details of the assessment cycle and plans is documented in the Annual Reporting Requirements.

Student Learning Outcomes have additional levels of structure further detailed in the Student Learning Outcomes Overview section.
